Dr. Katherine Hayden Professor Emerita at California State University San Marcos. Throughout her 31 year
career in education, Dr. Hayden has been a teacher, professor, director of education,
President of technology organizations such as SDCUE and CUE, co-chair of the ISTE
Accreditation and Standards Committee, author, consultant, grant writer, and evaluator.
Dr. Hayden has distinguished herself as an innovator and transformational leader and
advocates for effective use of technology for teaching and learning. Her research
and recent work in professional development has focused on STEM learning including
use of technology and integration of computational thinking in science classrooms.
As the PI for five National Science Foundation (NSF) projects focusing on STEM, Dr.
Hayden has worked with elementary and middle school teachers to integrate technology
and computing in their science classrooms: CyberTEAM, CyberQUEST, ACT, iQUEST and QUEST CT are five of her innovative projects. In addition to designing numberous
fully online technology related courses, Dr. Hayden has also taught courses in Adult
Learning and Best Practices in Teaching Online for Nursing. Dr. Hayden durrently faculty
for Computational Thinking in several ISTE Projects including professional development
for Atlanta Teachers in ICS and professional development in Malaysia for MDEC.
