Patty Anderson holds a Master of Science degree in Earth Science/Oceanography from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, a Bachelor of Science degree in Earth Sciences/Chemistry from UCSD, and Associate degrees in Chemistry and Natural Sciences. Patty is a Lecturer of Earth Science at CSU San Marcos, and adjunct Professor of Oceanography at Palomar and MiraCosta Community Colleges . Additionally, she teaches classes on Astronomy, and Climate Change through the UCSD extension, and provides teacher workshops on Geology and Sand. She serves as an Authorized Educational Specialist/Consultant to California Space Institute, University of California , and Frances L. Parker Outreach Program at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. She is a member of the American Geoscience Teachers Association, an advisor to the San Diego Science Alliance, an avid SCUBA diver with over 20 years experience diving in California, the Caribbean, and the South Pacific, and past area governor of ToastMasters International with her ATM-Gold certification.

In addition to being passionate about fish (including eating them), the ocean and beaches, Patty is committed to their conservation through quality education.
